Geography and History
They are +/- 330 km from Cape Town on the R363, are within 25km of beautiful beaches combining to form a fisherman’s and crayfish diver’s paradise. The landscape is a patchwork of potato, beetroot and pumpkin fields.
Lutzville is located near the Olifants River and at high tide it is possible to go on a flat-bottomed boat to Papendorp, about 30 km further downriver near its mouth.
Lutzville Vineyards, is located here, origin of the splendid Lutzville and Cape Diamond Wines. The distinctive location of Lutzville Vineyards combined with cool misty sea breezes and large temperature differences between day and night is the perfect ingredient for the superior aromas and flavours you experience in every bottle of our wine.
Lutzville, previously known as Vleermuijsklip, used to be home to herds of elephant who rubbed themselves against a rocky outcrop in the area. Lutzville is synonymous with quality wine, beautiful spring flowers, the Atlantic, unforgettable holiday experiences, a moderate climate and of course, the friendly people.
Seven kilometres from Lutzville, the close by hamlet of Koekenaap is set in a patchwork landscape of farming units. As in Lutzville, farmers produce grapes, tomatoes, beans, potatoes, beetroot, pumpkin and a variety of fruit.

There is a diverse range of activities available in and around this area, including hiking.
