Barry's Holiday Accommodation offers self catering holiday homes in Witsand, the home of the Southern Right Whale in Southern Africa. This peaceful coastal town is surrounded by two natural phenomena, the Breede River estuary and the Indian Ocean. The St Sebastian Bay houses the single largest winter migration population of Southern Right Whales. We offer fantastic land based whale watching to tourists that do not want to see boats amongst the whales.

We would love to introduce you to WITSAND / PORT BEAUFORT, our beautiful unspoilt village that so few people know about. Waterford  – This cosy little budget beach cottage will provide the perfect place to relax and recharge your ‘batteries’ whilst overlooking the Breede River. Set in this scenic safe and quiet village of Witsand. Popular for whale watching in winter months and Kite surfing in summer months. the cottage has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a Braa/BBQ patio overlooking the river. Sunday SPECIAL- late checkout -by 4pm, so you can enjoy your stay for longer.  

Smitsand - 2 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, open plan lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Open View HD decoder. Enclosed back garden so doggy friendly (1 small) Safe parking and braai. Sleeps 4 and suitable for a small family. Lovely farmland views. 

Kite View 2 - 2 Bedrooms en suite. Sleeps 4 Lovely spacious open plan lounge, dining area and fully equipped kitchen. Free full DSTV and free internet. Undercover parking for 2 vehicles, and braai. Awesome views of the Breede river, whales and kiteboarders. 

Netta se Huis - Newly refurbished and tastefully decorated house with ocean and river views , perfect to unwind and recharge your ‘batteries’ in Witsand. The house sleeps 9 people in 5 bedrooms and has Wifi and DSTV. Ocean view sleeps 9.

Net Net - 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, huge open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. Open View HD decoder. Lovely wooden decks with 2 braai's, pool table and dart board. Plenty of safe parking for cars and boat. Beautiful water views up the Breede river. Sleeps 8 adults, plus babies in camp cots. Flatlet downstairs can sleep an additional 4 persons. 

Breede View - This fabulously located house overlooks both the Breede river and the ocean as well as San Sebastion point. Open View HD TV available. It is a five bed roomed, four bath roomed double story self catering house, which sleeps 11 people. There are two braai’s and a games room and its located close to the jetty in a quiet secluded road. 

Pole Pole - This house is ideal for family gatherings or fishing trip groups alike, it sleeps 11 people in total, has an indoor and outdoor braai area and a games room. Open View HD TV available. The garden is pet friendly and there is plenty of parking for a boat or two. Lovely open plan living area. 

Jolly Jarman Cottage - Newly refurbished cottage that has a double room and a sleeper couch in the living area (sleeps 3 guests).  It has a lovely wooden sundowner deck, with its own private garden...hung with a hammock to chill out ad watch the ostriches nearby and it has a braai/BBQ area. There is free wifi and tea/coffee facilities. It is located just five mins from the beach and river... OV HD TV available. Safe parking and place to wash, hang, and store kite surfing kit. Also has access for wheelchairs. .

Posh Packers

Whale & Dolphin Rooms - Two twin bedded rooms , en suite with coffee/tea making facilities, use of communal kitchen, Braai area. Free wifi. OV HD TV available. Garden with places to hang, wash and dry kite surfing equipment or boat engines. Safe parking and only 5 mins drive to beach or restaurants. 

Gecko Room - Newly refurbished rooms...sleeps four ....double room and twin bedded rooms with shower / toilet. Free WiFi.. tea / coffee facilities and use of shared kitchen / chillout area and outdoor entertainment / Braai area.

JJ Dorm - An 8 bed mixed dormitory ...tastefully renovated with two toilets and a shower room. Includes free WiFi and chillout /kitchen /TV lounge with spacious outside entertainment verandah with braai/BBQ fire place. Tea/coffee provided. There is a large garden that has kitesurf kit cleaning and drying facilities. Or hammocks to sit back and relax in. 

 

 

Activities in Witsand

Land-based whale watching from July to November. See up to 70 whales in the Bay at one time. Whale statistics have earned Witsand the title of "THE Whale Nursery of South Africa".

Although it is primarily known for its multitude of whales from June to November, there is much to keep one entertained during the summer months. With stunning beaches, some of the best estuary fishing in the country, the Langeberg Mountains providing a beautiful backdrop and an unhurried peaceful ambiance, Witsand is well worth a visit....
