Old Nick Village - Arts & Crafts Centre in Plettenberg Bay, Garden Route, South Africa
Originally home to a trading store and housed in a 19th Century Cape settlement, Old Nick Village is the landmark destination in Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route. So much more than a shopping centre this is a truly sensory experience for the whole family as well as the discerning shopper. The galleries and shops are nestled amongst lush and established indigenous gardens. Resident fine artists and master crafters showcase their work in an eclectic combination of locally inspired design to enhance a creative lifestyle.
Old Nick Village is food for the soul and is a retail theatre of talent and imagination. Children can run free in the magical gardens enhanced by a wonderful climbing sculpture. Expect the unexpected – a lazy musical afternoon on the lawns, a special exhibition or an encounter with resident birds or the occasional Vervet monkeys.
We have restrooms for the disabled with many stores and the restaurant accessible for wheelchairs.
Every Wednesday we host the Mid Week Market where you can find homegrown fruit and vegetables, ethically farmed meat and dairy as well as other local, natural and homemade products.
Galleries & Merchants
Our galleries and shops occupy heritage buildings scattered amongst lush and established indigenous gardens and each has their own individual signature. We highlight the extraordinary and inspiring connection between ancient crafts, innovative manufacture and contemporary artistic design.
Old Nick Village boasts a carefully selected complementary mix of merchants all of whom are creative manufacturers show casing a combination of locally inspired design. Some traders also have e-commerce sites and supply to the wholesale market.
We work towards being – Sustainable – Ethical – Local. We train, empower and give opportunity to our employees.
